Religious Education
In the family, children learn to believe what their parents' words and examples teach about God. Parents enrich their own faith by participating in not only the formal religious education of their children, but also in their own adult religious education process and by preparing their children to receive the Sacraments of Initiation. Members of the parish grow spiritually by coming together to worship God and by making a shared response of faith in every aspect of life. Creating readiness for growth in community through worship and through the events of everyday life is an integral part of the task of Catholic education, which seeks to build community within its programs and institutions. Educational programs for the youth and adults must strive to build an understanding of Catholic doctrine as lived out in the witnessing of the Gospel values and in service to others. In doing this, the religious education process will foster growth in personal holiness and enrich everyone's relationship with Christ and His body.
